Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' paid homage to the party's central committee
member late Padam Bahadur Rai by covering late Rai's body with the party's
flag.
The Maoist Chairman paid the last respects to late Rai by covering the
body which was kept for tribute at the party's central office in Paris Danda.
On the
occasion, Maoist Center vice chairpersons Agni Prasad Sapkot and Pampha Bhusal,
former Speaker Onsari Gharti, former ministers, members of the parliament,
party's leaders and cadres were present for the tribute.
Born in 1967
at Boya of Shadananda Municipality in Bhojpur, Maoist leader Rai breathed last on November 23
while under treatment of Parkinson's disease at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, for Parkinson's
disease.
Rai's mortal
remain was kept in the party central office premises at Paris Danda, Koteshwar
for paying last tribute.
Rai was a
member of the Interim Legislative Parliament and also the Minister of State for
Physical Infrastructure. He was elected from Bhojpur Constituency-1.
According to
the party, his body will be cremated today at the electric crematorium in
Pashupati. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
The Maoist
Center also issued a message of condolence over Rai's death expressing tribute
to Rai and condolences to family and saying that with Rai's death, communist
movement of the country has incurred an irreparable loss.
