By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that a conclusion will be reached soon in the matter of delay in the construction of the Narayangadh-Butwal road section along the East-West Highway.
In the discussion held between the respective ministry, officials of ministry and people's representatives including provincial assembly members of Rupandehi, Nawalparasi West (West of Bardaghat Susta), and Nawalparasi East (Bardaghat Susta East) at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar, PM Oli said that if the construction work does not resume till end of November then there will be no option than to terminate the contract.
Mentioning that it would be appropriate to hire a construction company that has taken responsibility if it works reliably, Prime Minister Oli said that we need to stay away from a tendency to 'hold' projects for 28 years after assuming responsibility.
PM Oli said, "The expectation and intensity with which we wanted to work did not happen. Locals of the area have been compelled to live in dust and dirt for a long time. Not only this, but economic activities are affected as well."
Prime Minister Oli said, "It seems that the relevant agencies of the government need to take this issue seriously. I have also paid serious attention to this. We have reached a point where we have to take decisive action."
It is said that 44 percent of investment in the road section has been paid so far while 52 percent of the work has been done so far.
Bhagauti Yadav, Chief of the District Coordination
Committee, Nawalparasi (West), submitted a memorandum to the PM in this regard.
