Contempt of court case against 19 RSP lawmakers: Press meet cancelled

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 13: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has cancelled its press meet scheduled for today afternoon following the notice that a case of contempt of court was registered at the Supreme Court against 19 lawmakers of the RSP.

The RSP has been demonstrating protesting against the arrest of its president Rabi Lamichhane.

It is learnt that the RSP was to announce second phase protest programme through the press meeting today.

The case that was rejected with the order of assistant registrar was registered by the ruling of Justice Binod Sharma on Tuesday. Advocate Anup Bhattarai has sued most of the RSP central office bearers in the contempt of court case.

In the lawsuit, it is claimed that the demonstration was held after Lamichhane's arrest to obstruct the judicial process of the court, efforts were made to influence the court by means of expression and threats. The litigation also claims that baseless accusation against justices were also issued during the demonstration.
