Lumbini, Nov 12: Chief Minister of the Lumbini Province, Chetnarayan Acharya has put forth a proposal seeking support for feasibility study regarding operation of monorail in the Buddha circuit.
Chief Minister Acharya, who is currently in China to attend an international conference on trade and investment organized by the Sichuan province government, presented a plan before foreign investors regarding feasibility study on the operation of monorail along the Buddha circuit.
The proposal, according to the Chief Minister's secretariat, is to implement the plan to connect Rupandehi, Nawalparasi West and Kapilvastu districts with Buddha Circuit.
"We have called for a feasibility study for the operation of monorail in the Buddha Circuit. Further process will be initiated based on the response. In addition, a comprehensive plan has been put forward to make the province capital city a model and connect the capital city with the road network. We have been able to attract the attention of investors and experts", the secretariat quoted the chief minister as saying.
Chief Minister Acharya has also drawn the attention of foreign donors and investors to the development of agriculture, industry and trade sectors in the province.
Discussions were mainly focused on the construction of the province capital city, a tunnel to connect Lumbini – the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, and Rapti Dekhuri, tourist infrastructure and monorail at various places in the Buddha Circuit, necessary support to the Lumbini Technical University from the Chinese Technical University, among others.
The Chief Minister is accompanied by Lumbini Province Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Dhanendra Karki and Principal Secretary Mahadev Pantha among others in the conference.(RSS)
