Birgunj (Parsa), Nov 12: The two-day Terai-Madhesh National Congress of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal) that concluded here on Tuesday decided to call on the for establishing the Terai-Madhesh Integrated Authority.
RPP Nepal chairman Kamal Thapa shared this while addressing a news conference the party organized here today.
RPP Nepal argued that the formation of the Authority is essential for the development of the province and for uplifting the economic condition of the people of the 21 districts of the Terai-Madhes.
"The population in the Madhesh is more than half the population of the whole country. However, the economic standard of the people of the province has not improved. The RPP Nepal's national congress has made a decision that the livelihood of the people in the Terai-Madhesh has to be improved by establishing the said Authority," Thapa said.
According to him, only a negligible budget is allocated for the development of Terai-Madhesh at present and the budget should be allocated on the basis of population in the coming days.
RPP Nepal also called for the formation of a Mother Language Preservation Commission for the conservation and promotion of the Maithili, Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Tharu languages to further expand the cultural diversity of the Terai-Madhes region.
Chairman Thapa stated that the Terai-Madhesh National Congress has decided to call for moving ahead with an integrated plan on agriculture and irrigation in the Terai-Madhesh which is the 'granary' of the whole country.
The national congress has taken a decision to conduct a 'public awareness campaign' from Chataradham of Sunsari to Trivenidham after one and a half months.
