Elephant kills woman in Rautahat

Rautahat, Nov 1: An elderly woman died due to attack by elephant today at Butwa Rangi village, Ward No 11 of Phatuwa-Bijayapur Municipality in Rautahat district.     

Seventy-year-old Patali Tamang died today morning when the tusker attacked her when she had been sleeping at her home, said Indramani Adhikari, the Police Inspector of Area Police Office Bijayapur.     

According to Police Inspector Adhikari, the wild elephant suddenly attacked the elderly woman and she died instantaneously while her husband escaped unscathed. Their house has been fully damaged due to the attack. A house next to theirs was also damaged.     

The teams from the district-based Nepal Police, the Division Forest Office and the Armed Base Camp Bijayapur reached Butwa-Rangi village and have started further investigation, police said. (RSS)
