JEMC to print postage stamps and visa stickers

By A Staf Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 26:The government has permitted Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC), Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, to print postage stamps, land registration certificates and visa stickers. 

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday evening took the decision, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said while making the Cabinet decisions public on Friday.

Disclosing the Cabinet decision at the Ministry of Communication, Minister Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, said that the government decided to shut down three Border Administration Office-- at Byas Chhangru in Darchula, Border Administration Office at Pashupatinagar, Ilam, and the Immigration Office at Pashupatinagar in Ilam. 

Similarly, the Cabinet meeting endorsed organisation and structure and vacancy to be maintained at the Immigration Office, Korala, Mustang and the Immigration and Border Office, Tinkar, Darchula. 

The government has promoted Raghu Ram Bista to the post of secretary under the Administrative Service of the Public Service Commission. Following the promotion, Bista has been transferred to the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Gandaki Province. He was previously serving as the Acting Chief Secretary at the same office. 

The government has appointed Dr. Savyata Gautam of Kathmandu and Bishnu Prasad Kandel as members of the Nepal Pharmacy Council. 

The government has given permission to use 6.06 hectares of national forest area to construct 220 kV transmission line for the Thulo Khola Hydropower Project in Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi district and 65 hectares of land area of Gulariya Municipality in Bardiya for the Babai Irrigation Project.  The Cabinet meeting further decided to provide financial assistance up to Rs. 500,000 based upon the medical expenses while treating Prinsa Sawan and Dipson Sawan who died later in the grenade explosion at Dandagaun in Phalelung Rural Municipality-5 of Panchthar district. 

Minister Gurung said that the government extended the term of honorary consuls and consuls general in 11 countries, including Slovenia, by one term, which is  of four years.

Further, the Cabinet meeting endorsed the visit of Minister for Agriculture, Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari to Mexico to take part in bilateral and multilateral level meetings from November 6 to 12, and Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishsor Sah Sudi to Qatar from October 29 to 31, and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal to Manila of the Philippines to take part in the High-Level 16th Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum in Asia programme to be held from December 10 to 12.
