44 Indian workers brought to Nepal to work stranded after the contractor ran away

By TRN Online, Saptari, Oct.27: 44 workers who were brought from Sambal district of Uttar Pradesh, India,  to Sita Brick Industry in Bishnupur Rural Municipality of Saptari, Malekpur, have been stranded. 

They are currently sitting on the ground of an under-construction house in the Kaltupokhari, Rajbiraj Municipality-3, Saptari, after being stranded. 

All 44 of them were brought 15 days ago from Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh state in India. All workers were stranded after the contractor who brought them from India ran away. 

Sonu Nagar of Police Station, Hayat Nagar, of Asmoli, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh district, India said that the contractor which has brought them went out of touch. All 44 workers waited for 12 days and stayed at Sita Brick Factory, the contractor did not come in touch leaving them stranded. 

A contractor named Zakir Mian said that he was brought to work in a brick kiln.

Another laborer from the same place, Bohara Singh, said that he stayed in the brick industry for 12 days, but after the owner stopped giving him food, he was starving for three days in Rajviraj.

 "We don't have money to go home. I am worried about how to return home", he said.

According to the District Police Office said that 44 Indian workers, including 11 children, and 15 women, have been rescued from the Sita Brick Kiln. The bricks entrepreneurs are giving food to stranded workers after they were rescued by police and brought to headquarters, Rajbiraj. 

Superintendent of Police Dhakendra Khatiwada said that the fugitive contractor who brought laborers is being searched for and efforts are being made to send workers to India.
