Leaders listen to writers in Ta Munjya

By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, Oct. 17: The 44th Nepal Bhasa Sahitya Ta Munnjya (An Outsized Conference of Nepal Bhasa)  concluded in Lhamhuga Tole, Bhaktapur, on Tuesday.

The two-day festival organised by Nepal Bhasa Ta Munjya Gosakhala was inaugurated by the leader of the peasant movement and guru of cultural music Punbir Gaida on Monday. 

At the festival, Chairman of Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party Narayan Man Bijukchhen ‘Rohit’ honoured senior poet of Nepal Bhasa Durgalal Shrestha, who is known as Janakavi, and campaigner of heritage conservation Bhagbat Narsingh Pradhan. 

Likewise, Chair Bijukchhen honoured  six persons for their outstanding contribution to their fields with cash prizes, shawl and garlands. Those honoured  were teacher Mohan Prasad Prajapati, intellectual Ratna Sundar Shaktya, cultural guru Ratnabhakta Nhemafuki, social worker Jagatlal Manandhar,  cleaner Ganeshram Duwal and peasant leader Lalitbahadur Awal.

Moreover, Bijukchhen released the souvenir of Ta Munjya and Pratipakshi Kalam part 2, a book penned by Laxman Raj Joshi.

At the first session on both days, several literary figures including Mohan Duwal, Harihar Timilsina, Saroj Dhital, Sulochana Manandhar, Ramprasad Gyawali, Avaya Shrestha, Surya Prasad Lakoju, Anil Paudel, Jatadhar Jha and others presented their works of literature. Similarly, intellectuals and professionals including senior lawyer Krishna Prasad Bhandari, former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, Dr. Sanu Maya Shrestha, Cardiologist Dr. Rajendra Koju and others expressed their views. Similarly, the artists presented their farce, one-act plays and cultural performances in the second session.

At the function, Chairman Rohit urged the authors to write for the justice of working people.

“The creations which are for the working people are progressive literature in a real sense,” he opined.

Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality Sunil Prajapati termed the festival as the forum of writers and working people.

Ta Munjya is known as the venue where writers, artists, professionals and people speak from the Dias and the leaders listen to them from the audience’s seats. 

The slogan of the festival was Janata Mwasa Bhasa Mwai (If people survive, the language survives). The festival is organised on Kaulathwa Dwadashi and Trayodashi every year since Nepal Sambat (NS) 1100. Now, it is NS 1144.
