Pro-life values of indigenous festivals should be preserved, promoted: Chairman Prachanda

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct 12: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pointed at the need to preserve positive and pro-life values and culture of the indigenous festivals.

Extending best wishes on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami today, the chief of the main opposition party in parliament also viewed that modification as per time was needed in existing superstitious, extravagant and showy thinking and life styles.

Traditional values and norms, rituals and festivals need to be enriched and developed in line with existing changed political situation in the country and quantitative development of science and technology, he said, doing this will make our norms and values, cultures and festivities stronger and additionally pro-life.

He has appealed to all to observe Dashain in a happy manner taking this occasion as an important moment for family and social reunion and the greatest time during the year.

Dashain which is celebrated as a mark of victory has contributed to religious tolerance, social harmony and reconciliation and cooperation, he said, it has been established as a great ceremony for social reunion in the current global context.

In his greeting message, former PM Prachanda has also drawn the attention of the government to arrange relief and rehabilitation at the earliest for the victims of the rain-induced disasters as the disaster has left the country in a sad situation.
