Chitra released on Amazon Prime Video

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 3: Chitra, directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane, is now available for the audience worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.

Originally released in Nepal on January 12, 2024, the film is currently streaming on Prime Video.

Viewers with an Amazon Prime membership can watch the film from any country, making it accessible to audiences in over 200 countries.

The Hindi-dubbed version of the film has been digitally distributed internationally by ‘Release World.’ What makes this release special is that the film has been made available with subtitles in 43 languages, expanding its reach to multilingual audiences.

According to the production team, Chitra is the first Nepali film to be globally released on Amazon Prime. Previously, some Nepali films were available only on the UK or USA versions of Amazon Prime, but Chitra has been released on the global platform.

Director Lamichhane expressed his excitement about the film’s worldwide release, saying, “The success of Chitra could become exemplary for the Nepali film industry. It has succeeded in conveying the message that Nepali stories can be brought to the global market and that high-quality cinema can be produced in Nepal.” 

Actors include Santosh Adhikari, Menuka Pradhan, Subeksha Khadka, Arpan Thapa, Pramod Agrahari, Anjana Baraili, Simran Khadka, Ayushi Dhakal, Binod Paudel, Kapil Sharma, Kumar Gurung, Ujwal Dhakal, Dipesh Gajurel, and Prakash Ghimire. Produced under the banner of Santosh Adhikari Films, the film’s producer is Ashish Thapa Magar, with Santosh Adhikari as the executive producer.

Written by Ajay Adhikari with a screenplay by Manish Gautam, Chitra portrays the relationship between a retired father and his daughter.
