PM Oli urges precaution amidst natural disasters

Kathmandu, Sept 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on citizens to maintain precautionary measures against the natural disasters that occur due to persistent rainfall.     

PM Oli, who is currently in the USA to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, emphasized collective efforts to deal with disasters for, he stated, that natural disasters were a common challenge for all.     

Taking to social networking sites today, Oli expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and properties due to incessant rainfall.     

Highlighting the reports of damages caused by flood and landslide in various parts of the country, the Head of the Government said that he telephoned Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and garnered information about the impacts of the rainfall.     

According to PM Oli, Minister Lekhak apprised him that disaster rescue teams of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force had been deployed for rescue and relief supplies operation.     

The PM expressed concern over delays in rescue operations in some places and urged the Chief District Officers in the respective disaster-hit districts to take forward rescue operations responsibly.     

Warning about meteorologist's prediction of rainfall occurring today as well, PM Oli called for cooperation from the citizens to cooperate with security personnel deployed for rescue operation. He also appealed to people to remain vigilant in the areas prone to natural disasters. (RSS)
