Flood sweeps away 30 houses in Sisneri, 28 houses inundated

Makawanpur, Sept 28: As many as 30 houses have been swept away by rain-triggered flood at Sisneri Bazzar of Indrasarowar rural municipality-3 in Makawanpur district.

According to Sisneri police post's In-charge Assistant Police Inspector Bhojraj Neupane, flood also washed away police office's building.

Similarly, 28 houses have been inundated at Khanikhet of Indrasarowar rural municipality-3 in the district. The two sluice gates of Khulekhani reservoir have been opened from today morning after the reservoir got swollen due to incessant rainfall. 

The water level in various streams has increased up to caution level, heightening the risks of flood and inundation. 

Although houses were swept away and inundated, no human casualties have been reported yet, Sisneri police said.

Those residing at high risk area of flood and inundation have been relocated to safer place, informed Assistant Police Inspector Neupane. 

Landslides following the incessant rainfall have disrupted Hetauda-Kathmandu road, Kulekhani-Phakhel-Kathmandu road and Tribhuvan Highway and Kulekhani-Mata Tirtha-Kathmandu road section.

Efforts are underway to remove landslide debris to resume vehicular movement on, said Tirtharaj Chiluwal, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Makawanpur. 

Security agencies have been kept on high alert considering the potential risk of monsoon rain induced disasters such as landslide, flood and inundation among others, mentioned Chiluwal. (RSS)
