By Amrit Prasad Poudel,Myagdi, Sept. 10: In order to promote tourism in the northern parts of Myagdi district, local youth have organised a motorcycle rally. Some motorcyclists from the Himalayan district of Myagdi conducted the rally to promote the touristic areas of north Myagdi.
Youths have reached Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 Pun Hill with the aim of paying a group visit to the tourist sites where they can go by motorcycle from the district headquarters, Beni, putting up informative boards, and publicising videos and pictures on the social media. The motorcycle journey that started from Beni passed through Pokharebagar, the centre of Annapurna Rural Municipality, reached Ghorepani, a famous tourist spot, and then hiked up to the Pun Hill.
Anand Rizal, who participated in the tourism promotion rally organised by Chandani Auto Trade in Beni, a dealer of CG Motors-Hero motorcycle, said that the rally had increased the traffic even to the rural areas. The riders have used the motorcycles of X-Pulse brand.
They traveled from Beni to Pokharebagar, Ghar, Khiwang, Sikh, Falate and Chitre to reach Ghorepani, where they spent a night. The hiking was organised the next morning and it returned to Pun Hill. According to Rizal, he reached Pun Hill, which is 3,200 metres above sea level, then returned to Ghorepani, and then returned to Beni via Bhurung Tatopani.
The rally aimed to spread the message that there are many tourist spots within Myagdi district and they can be reached by vehicles and Ghorepani and Pun Hill, which are famous in the international markets as well, can be traveled by riding a motorbike, said Oscar Shrestha, owner of Chandani Auto.
He said that recently there is a growing interest among the youth about traveling to new places, and he hoped that this trip will also help to develop Ghorepani as an excellent destination for young enthusiasts who want to travel on motorcycles.
Anup Shrestha, Marketing Manager of Hero motorcycles, expected that the motorcycle journey would help in the digital marketing of the tourist destinations seen during the journey from Beni to Ghorepani and Pun Hill.
"It is fun to travel along hilly terrain, rural settlements, mountains, and forests, and this time the 24 motorcycle riders who participated in the rally got to experience it," he said.
Pravesh Poudel, a member of Myagdi Bikers Club, said that earlier hoarding boards were placed in different places of the district. According to him, the information boards have been placed to give information about popular tourist spots such as Khopra, Lovely Hill, Beldhunga, Narchyang Waterfall, and bikers go on group trips to tourist destinations on Saturdays and holidays.
Kiran Karki, a young businessman from Beni, said that the current trip had created a new experience for photography and videography. Being a photographer and videographer myself, this trip also gave me the experience that we can do more in the field of tourism, he said.
