Two dead, 27 injured after bus overturns in Banke

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Aug.29: Two people have been killed and 27 injured after a bus overturned being out of control in Ganapur along the Nepalgunj-Kohalpur Road section of Banke district on Thursday. 

According to the District Police Office, Banke, a bus with a registration number (Bhe 1 Kha 2128) heading towards Nepalgunj to Dang overturned after being put out of control while trying to save a motorcycle in front of Namaste Cottage at Ganapur along the Nepalgunj-Kohalpur Road section of Banke district. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Banke, Narayan Dangi, said that a passenger bus met with an accident when it was about to reach Nepalgunj killing two and injuring 27 others. 

The deceased are yet to be ascertained. The injured are undergoing treatment at the Bheri Hospital and Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC).

He said that the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Traffic Police, reached the accident spot soon after receiving the news and started the rescue along with the support of locals. 

Information Officer of the Bheri Hospital Dr Sanket Kumar Risal said that 22 are receiving treatment at Bheri Hospital and dead bodies are also kept at the hospital. Some of the injured are in serious condition so manpower is being mobilized to provide treatment to all. 

It will take some time to receive information about the incident.
