Kathmandu, Aug 25: The Constitution Day main celebration committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The committee has been formed to observe the Constitution Day which is also the National Day in a grand manner.
The meeting of the Home Ministry held at Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers decided to observe the Constitution Day for three days- Asoj 2, 3 and 4.
The constitution was promulgated by the Constituent Assembly on Asoj 3 in 2072BS.
The government has called for all to conduct lighting in the country and Nepali embassies and missions abroad. A musical programme would be held at Durbar Marg on Asoj 2 and a main celebration committee function at Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on Asoj 3.
Similarly, the government decided to call all public offices, institutions and organizations to hoist national flag. Even the public vehicles would be asked to wave the national flag.
At the programme, PM KP Sharma Oli said the people from all castes, ethnicities and regions should observe the day willingly. The Constitution Day is the moment we achieved the present constitution through sacrifice and struggle.
The celebration programmes should be organized by all federal, province and local levels with the mobilization of people from all walks of life. "Constitution Day is the biggest national festival. It is the annual fair encompassing all sides, communities and regions," he reminded, urging all to make preparations accordingly.
The main celebration committee comprises Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, ministers of state, chief secretary, chief of army staffs, mayors from KMC and LMC, secretaries, gazetted special class officers, chiefs of security agencies, and members of municipalities in Kathmandu.
Various subcommittees are also formed eg for publicity, national song concert, stage decoration, cultural pageant management, drill, cultural diversity management as part of the main celebration committee. (RSS)
