PM Oli stresses on propagation of Buddha's philosophy and message

Kathmandu, Aug 25: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has underscored on expanding the Buddha's philosophy and messages through education.

Addressing the 16th Senate of the Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) today, Prime Minister and LBU Chancellor Oli said the LBU, which has been opened with new thinking of protection and expansion of the Buddhist philosophy has made a historic contribution to the world humanity, should play an important role.     

PM Oli said since LBU is connected to the Nepali conscience, glory and history, the positivity and the ethos of friendship that the Buddha taught are relevant and timely even to this day.     

"Only wearing the robe is not enough to be a follower of Buddhist philosophy and a Bhikkhu (monk), one needs the heart and knowledge for this. We have started education on Buddhist philosophy. We need to provide quality education to improve lives. We can achieve development and reach success through staunch determination and continuous efforts," he said.     

The Senate meeting, attended by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidhya Bhattarai, passed the University's policy, programmes and budget for the current fiscal year as well as the 'grace list' of 285 students for the Convocation to be organised this December. (RSS)
