Bodies of three Nepalis killed in landslide in India being returned home

Bharatpur (Chitwan), Aug 24: The bodies of three Nepali youths who died in a landslide at Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand State of India are being brought to their home in Chitwan district.     

According to Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato, Mayor of Madi Municipality, the bodies are likely to arrive in Madi in an ambulance by tonight.     

Mayor Mahato confirmed that the bodies were transported from India and entered Nepal via Gaddachowki border point after post-mortem was completed on last Friday.     

Four Nepalis lost their lives in the landslid occurred on Thursday night at Phata area that lies on the road between Badrinath and Kedarnath. Among them, three were from Chitwan district while one was from Dailekh.     

According to the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, India, the deceased were identified as Tul Bahadur Damai, 58, of Shitalpur of Madi Municipality-2, Krishna Bahadur Pariyar, 26, of ward no 1 and Purna Bahadur Nepali,28, of ward no 5 in the same municipality.     

Similarly, Deepak Buda of Dailekh was fatally buried in the landslide. The incident occurred while they were sleeping, it was said.     

Mayor Mahato shared that she visited the bereaved families and pledged to call a meeting of executives in her municipal to decide on relief packages for the bereaved families.     

Deepak Buda's body will be, however, cremated in Rudraprayag in India since his family is residing in India, according to Mayor Mahato.     

The landslide victims Nepalis youths were working as a labourer in a petrol pump and in road construction project and were living in a camp nearby Pawan Hans Helipad.
