Kathmandu Aug 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has underlined the need for adequate and quality discussions on bills.

In the Friday meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives on Friday, Minister Gurung witnessed the discussion on the report of the sub-committee on the Public Service Broadcasting Bill, 2077 where he viewed effective discussion on bill would result in good law. For it, both the government and parliament could do adequate homework, he added.

Minister Gurung said, "Established values of the state can not misused for the benefit of a particular person through any laws."

Emphasizing that the laws of the country should not be prepared in haste and under anyone's influence, the Minister argued values, methods, and systems should be adhered to create a new one.

Minister Gurung further said the principle of separation of power should be internalized by all stakeholders and institutions.

He however said laws and bylaws need timely revision. Since the State run media such as Nepal Television and Radio Nepal are operating based on previous laws enacted during the Panchyat era, the bill has been introduced to make a new law. The bill aims at making these organizations competitive, organized and modern, Gurung reminded.(RSS)
