Kaski, Aug 10: Minister for Communications, Information and Technology, Prithivi Subba Gurung, laid emphasis on making postal services more effective and technology-friendly.

After inspecting the Directorate of Postal Service in Pokhara today, Minister Gurung pledged to revise the old polices and regulations related to postal services and make the services up-to-date.

Gurung expressed his concern over the complaints rife on the postal service.

He viewed that the postal office staffers should be always aware of providing prompt services to the people in rural areas. "The postal service will no longer run in an old manner. There is no situation to bring about sea-changes immediately either. I will work towards making postal service technology-friendly," the Minister assured.

He underscored the need for the employees in the postal services to update themselves with the skills related to technologies.

Similarly, Directorate Chief Kirtanraj Poudel shared that the postal office's staffers were delivering services in spite of human resources crunch and lack of transportation.

The Directorate, having 90 posts, currently has 42 staffers, he cited. (RSS)
