Badigad landslide: Nepali Army helicopter mobilized for rescue

By Thakur Prasad Acharya, Baglung,  Aug.7: A Nepali Army helicopter has landed near the landslide site to rescue the injured in the Arupata, Badigad rural municipality-10, Baglung on Tuesday morning. Two people died in the landslide that occurred on Tuesday morning. 

Chief District Officer of Baglung Netra Prasad Subedi said that the helicopter of the Nepali Army with two doctors and some policemen went towards Badigad. The air rescue had returned back being unable to land because of unfavorable weather conditions. 

It was difficult to take the injured to the hospital because of road disruption owing to landslides. 

Ward Chair-9 of Badigad Birendra Kumar Budha Magar said that the helicopter landed on ward-9 near Janata Primary School. 

He said, "Preparations are underway to airlift those in critical condition to Kathmandu." 

According to him, the locals have taken the injured to the hospital Burtibang Primary Health Center for treatment. 10 people were injured in the Tuesday landslide. 

The rescue operation for the four missing people in the landslide started early Wednesday morning. 

The 78-year-old Jog Bahadur Budha of Arupata, Baglung, who was seriously injured in a landslide, died on Tuesday evening due to the lack of timely treatment. 

A massive landslide swept away a house belonging to deceased Jog Bahadur Budha at Arupata in ward 10 of Badigad, which occurred just above his house on Tuesday morning. 

Ward chair Birendra Kumar Budha Magar said, "Around 50 households have been displaced by the landslide. The evacuees lack shelter, food, and water."
