By TRN Online, Hetauda, Aug. 5: Trafficking survivors have demanded that the government should provide them support.

Sharing their experiences at a research workshop on data collection through photo voice approach held here today, they shared that they felt discriminated at hospitals, in getting public services, including while obtaining citizenship, employment and ageism.

They pointed out that the government as well as community based organization should be active not only preventing human trafficking but also in providing support in their post-trafficking life.

The trafficking survivors made it a point that the ongoing participatory action research has helped them understand themselves and their rights.

We  are ready to fight for Justice,” shared one survivor.

This photo voice approach allows us to raise our silenced voices, she added.

The survivors lamented that the knowledge they got after training had remained unutlised for lack of programme to underpin their economic empowerment.

Dr. Rita Dhungel, researcher and assistant professor at University of Fraser Valley, said that the photo voice has given trafficking survivors to come up with their feelings, experiences which has helped collect data for the study.
