MPs draw government's attention towards upsurge in accidents

Kathmandu, July 28: In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the MPs drew the government's attention to the recent upsurge in air and road accidents.     

Speaking during the 'Urgent Time' in the House of Representatives' meeting today, they came with the view that the relevant agencies should be responsible and accountable for the increasing number of airplane and bus accidents.     

The lawmakers have drawn the government's attention on the increase in air and road accidents, road blockades due to landslide and flooding, and called for effective role of government agencies in preventing the accidents. They pointed out the need of enhanced regulatory role of the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) to prevent air accidents.     

They have further urged the government to manage effective security as incidents of murder were also on the rise of late in the country.     

Lawmakers have also opined to make effective measures to reach relief to the victims of various natural disasters including landslides, floods across the country.     

Lawmakers Rajendra Bajgain, Sunita Baral, Purna Bahadur Gharti, Rajendra Lingden, Sanjay Gautam, Mahindra Ray Yadav, Ganesh Parajuli, Prabhu Sah, Hari Dhakal had taken part in the discussions.     

Likewise, the MPs have called attention of the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the Saurya Airlines plane crash and to take necessary initiatives so that such aviation accidents do not recur in the coming days.     

Speaking during the 'Zero Hour' of the meeting of the House of Representatives today, they expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and properties in various accidents. The MPs also expressed objection to what they called the 'discriminatory' attitude of the State towards the victims of the Saurya Airlines plane crash and those killed in the bus accident occurred at Simaltal of Chitwan.     

The MPs speaking in the Zero Hour today include Anisha Nepali, Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Amrit Lal Rajbanshi, Arjun Narsingh KC, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Ashim Shah, Ishwari Gharti, Ishwari Devi Neupane, Urmila Majhi, Eknath Dhakal, Kantika Sejuwal, Kaluram Rai, Kiran Kumar Saha and Ganga Karki.     

Similarly, Amrita Agrahari, Kusum Devi Thapa, Goma Sapkota, Chandrakanta Bhandari, Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma, Chhiring Dumdul Lama Bhote Jabeda Khatun, Jeevan Pariyar, Juli Mahato among the MPs drew the government's attention to address the wrong message that the Saurya Airlines plane crash sent to the international level that Nepali sky is not safe.
