Kathmandu, July 27: The Upper Arun Hydropower Project, Local Advisory Council has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli with various three-point demands to speed up the work of the project.

A group of members of the Council including chairman Ladar Bhote, submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Oli at UML central office in Lalitpur today.

They have stated that all the preparations have been completed and the project has entered the implementation stage therefore it should be speeded up on time. Since the project is connected with the future of Sankhuwasabha, Bhotkhola residents, the council has drawn the attention of the government to take the project to speedy construction and meet the demands of the local residents.

As there are many doubts regarding the implementation of the project, the council urged to start meaningful efforts immediately and also suggested that it would be appropriate for the Nepal government to build the project.

The World Bank has committed to invest in the project. The project is of 1,63 MW. While reading the memorandum, Prime Minister Oli said that the government will take meaningful initiatives for the smooth implementation of the project.(RSS)
