Minister Thakuri pledges support for Shanti Park

Kathmandu, Jul 27: Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri assured of necessary support from the government side for the management and construction of infrastructures of the National Martyrs Memorial and Peace Park.     

Minister Thakuri said so while unveiling a collection of references at a programme organized by the National Martyr Memorial and Peace Park Civil Memorial Expanded Board, Central Community Forest Tourism and Park Management Committee at Jagdol of Gokarneshwor municipality ward no 4 in Kathmandu today.     

Emphasizing the need to make the Park more orderly and beautiful, the Minister said, "We should devise plans and implement them to promote tourism. He reiterated that the government was always positive to provide necessary support for the Park."     

The Park is spread over 650 ropanis of land in the community forest area. A Cabinet meeting held on May 25, 2007, had decided to construct the Park in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for independence from the end of the Rana regime to the martyrs from the Second People's movement.     

On the occasion, Minister Thakuri handed over certificates to those contributing to constructing the Park and promoting tourism. (RSS)
