Village's raw materials making money to locals in Dang

By Tulsipur Correspondent, Tulsipur, July 25: Urmila Chaudhary of Batolpur, Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City -8 is all occupied with making pencil cups, and bags from local raw materials, bamboo, jaggery, maize, and even paddy. 

Even though her health suffers heavily, she is always busy making items from local produce. 

Urmila, a skilled handicraft, teaches her skills of making various objects from bamboo shoots and jaggery to other locals even in afar villages.  She has been making objects using local products like bamboo shots, paddy, maize, and jaggery,  and selling them in many places including the capital Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, and even abroad. 

She makes pencil cups, trays, and bags and sells from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000. 

She said, "I work even in sickness. I was suffering from diarrhoea when the Tulsipr sub-metropolis asked for my product. I pushed through and delivered them a local product. I could not make more, but I made the best one for them. The local products are made from bamboo, jaggery, maize, and even paddy. I sell from home. It has become a medium of living and running a family for me." 

Likewise, Krishna Chaudhary from Tulsipur-19 has been making different objects from local produce as well. He also has been imparting his knowledge to others.

Chairman of the Pakarre Community Forest Muralidhar KC said that the community forest has established the Pakarre Entrepreneurship Centre to encourage the handicrafts of Krishna Chaudhary.
