8 schools have less students in Humla

By Rajan Rawat, Humla, July 25: There is an enrollment of less than twenty-five students in eight schools located at Namkha Rural Municipality of Northern Humla. 

According to the Education, youth, and Sorts Branch of the Namkha Rural Municipality, there is an enrollment of less than twenty students in eight schools of the rural municipality. 

There is a total of 14 schools in the whole Namkha Rural Municipality. The number of students in the schools is decreasing every year. This is because many students leave schools as they move to upper grades. 

This number was determined in the details entered in ISIM, in reality, the number can be much less. 

According to Branch, there are only 22 students in the Nababuchomu Primary School, which runs classes from one to five, of Namkha Rural Municipality-1. 

Similarly, 24 students are studying in Namkha Khyamejum Primary School of Ward 1 which has up to grade 3. There are just 15 students in Nababuddha Primary School of Ward 1 which teaches up to grade five. On the other hand, there are 25 students in Satya Primary School of Ward 3 which also has classes up to grade three. There are 17 students in Chychara Primary School of ward-2 which has classes up to grade five. 

There are seven students in Araniko Primary School of ward-5 which has classes up to grade three. There are 22 students in Sunkhani Primary School of ward-5 which has classes up to grade five. 

There are eight students in Himalaya Primary School of ward-4 which has classes up to grade five. There are 39 students in Motiram Primary School of ward-4 which has classes up to grade five. A total of 48 students are studying in the Khasrapani Primary School of Ward 4 which has grades 1 to 8. 

According to the local Kunjok Tamang, a resident of the Jang village of Limi, Namkha Rural Municipality-6, of the total three schools, two are already closed, and students in the remaining Sunkhani Primary School, have decreased significantly as well. There were 54 students but this year 22 students are currently in the school. 

Chairman of the Namkha Rural Municipality Prem Bahadur Lama said that the number of studying in the school is decreasing. There is a need to run school even if the students are low.
