Kathmandu, July 24: President Ram Chandra Paudel urged one and all to publicize Nepal's glorious history of bravery, heroism and brilliance across the world.

President Paudel made this urge while addressing the 25oth birth anniversary of national luminary, Bhimsen Thapa, amidst a programme organized at his residence, Shital Niwas on Wednesday. Nepal is only the country in South Asia having its identity of an independent country since time immemorial to the present day, he reminded, adding, "The tragic life of warrior Bhimsen Thapa also reflects Nepal's accursed history. Nepal's glorious history is not written as it was and many facts shrouded in mystery. So, country's history needs to be publicized factually across the globe."

According to the Head of the State, it is appropriate for us to stand on the background of history and determine future accordingly. He further recounted luminary Thapa's role that he modernized Nepal in social, economic and legal fronts, thereby ending various social ills. He was an inspiring figure, Paudel explained.

"Due to heroic deeds of our ancestors, we are bequeathed the present independent and sovereign Nepal," the President underlined, and urged all to unite for nation building.

On a different note, he said time has come for us to devote to the socioeconomic development of the country by strengthening federal democratic governance system.

At the programme, President Paudel conferred an award and prize of Rs 100 thousand on the Mrigendra Memorial Medical Trust. The Trust has been providing treatment to the children from Karnali Province and other backward communities.
