One cholera case confirmed in Lalitpur

By Sirjana Khatri, Kathmandu, July 23: One case of Cholera has been confirmed in a 16-year-old boy in Lalitpur. 

According to the director of Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital Dr Yuva Nidhi Basaula, Cholera has been detected in a 16-year-old boy who is the course of treatment in the hospital. 

The test performed at the National Public Health Laboratory detected cholera in a 16-year-old living at the rehabilitation centre located at the Thaiba, Godawari Municipality-14, Lalitpur. 

The report of another patient with diarrhoea is yet to come. He is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 

He said, "Four youths had visited the hospital with the symptoms of Cholera, and one has been detected with Cholera. A report of the culture of another patient is sent. The remaining two youths had run away from the hospital on Monday." 

Lately, around 10 people have been visiting the hospital because of diarrhoea daily.  

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Dr Prakash Budhathoki said that it had been directed to investigate the rehabilitation Centre where diarrhoea was detected to stop its spread.
