Chet Narayan Acharya stakes claim for Lumbini CM

By Chhabi Lal Pandey, Butwal, July 22: UML Lumbini Province's Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Chet Narayan Acharya staked claim to be the Chief Minister of the Lumbini Province on Monday.

With the 56 signatures of Nepali Congress and UML lawmakers claim has been submitted before Province Chief Amik Sherchan.

With the resignation of the then CM Jokh Bahadur Mahara on Sunday the post was vacant.

Province Chief Sherchan has called to submit a claim for the formation of the new government as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal by 6 PM this evening. 

Out of 87 total parliamentarians in the Lumbini provincial Assembly UML has 29 lawmakers whereas the second largest Party Nepali Congress has 27 lawmakers.

To form a new government the support of 44 lawmakers is needed.
