By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 14: President Ram Chandra Paudel is going to appoint the new Prime Minister on Sunday after the deadline set by the president for the formation of government ends.
Chairperson of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli , who had submitted his claim for the post of Prime Minister on Friday with the support of the Nepali Congress, will be appointed PM around 3 PM today.
President Paudel had, in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution, called on parties on Friday to submit their stake in the new government leadership by 5:00 pm on July 14.
According to the office of the President, following the set deadline expiration, President Paudel will appoint the Prime Minister this evening and the swearing ceremony will proceed.
A new government is being formed after incumbent Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' lost a majority of the parliament, with the CPN-UML deciding to part ways with him and join hands with the main opposition, Nepali Congress. (Translated by RSS)
