By Our Correspondent, Jajarkot, June 18: Students of Bhagwati Secondary School in Bheri Municipality-13 have started fainting after being unable to tolerate the scorching heat.

With the ever-rising mercury,  a growing number of students are experiencing health issues such as fainting, screaming, and vomiting regularly. These incidents are disrupting the school's educational activities and causing concern among teachers and parents alike.

Currently, the temperature in Jajarkot is between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, and students have been fainting as they could not cope with the extreme heat.

According to Dil Bahadur Khatri, the associate principal of Bhagwati Secondary School, students have been fainting and screaming due to extreme heat for the past few days.

As a result, teaching-learning activity has been affected. When it gets too hot in the afternoon, we conduct classes in the morning, but students who come to school without having breakfast cannot tolerate the heat and faint.

Khatri noted that the rising temperatures have been problematic for the children. "When students faint, we relocate them to a cooler area," he said.

Similarly, Dinesh Kumar Singh, principal of Lakshmi Prapti Secondary School, said that the children have fainted at his in Kushe Rural Municipality-5 and Bhanu Bhakta Secondary School in Nalagad Municipality-4.

Due to the lack of rain, the hilly regions have become as hot as the plains. The sudden fainting, shaking and screaming of students have affected teaching-learning activities, causing disappointment among teachers.

Krishna Prasad Nupane from Bheri Municipality-13 proposed temporarily shutting down the schools. In response to the escalating temperature, parents have recommended closing schools to alleviate the situation. With temperatures on the rise, they have urged school administration to halt teaching-learning activities.

Although people felt relieved after the rain on May 23, it did not rain after that. The extreme heat has made it difficult for the general public to get through the day since it stopped raining. The crops planted in the fields have started to wither due to a lack of water.
