Magar community celebrates Bhumya Festival: In pictures

By Keshab Gurung, Kathmandu, June 15: The Bhumya festival of the Magar community has started from today. This festival which is celebrated by worshipping land is celebrated by the Magar community in the west from the Ridi River.

The festival in Kathmandu has been celebrated with different cultural programs hosted by the Nepal Magar Federation since Wednesday. They worship their land, wishing to keep their people free from diseases and natural calamities and increase production.

This festival is celebrated with utmost importance by Magars residing in Rolpa, Rukum, Pyuthan, Salyan, Dang, Baglung and Myagdi. 

Recently, the number of people celebrating this festival has been increasing in Dang, Kathmandu and other areas due to increased migration. 

The festival is celebrated in the hills of western Nepal from June 14 to June 19, while,  it is celebrated two days less in Kathmandu.
