Dignity and weightage of Parliament is declining: Former Speaker Sapkota

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 25: Vice-chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Center) and former Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota has said that the dignity and standing of the Parliament is declining.

Addressing the second session of the Nepal Democratic Transportation Federation Bagmati Province Committee, Kathmandu, held in Kathmandu, on Saturday, he said that parliament debates, discussions, and word selection are without standards and dignity.

He said that even though Parliament is the soul of democracy and an important channel for ensuring good governance in any country, parliamentary activities in the country are not being conducted aptly. 

Former speaker Sapkota said that now the state of anarchy, and chaos is being reflected in the present scenario of the country. 

He said that he is hopeful that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be presented to the parliament without any obstacles, implying that the country's current situation is complex and weighty.
