Buddha’s lifestyle portrayed on canvases in Devdaha

By Our Correspondent,Devdaha, May 13: A two-day workshop concluded in Devdaha Municipality, Rupandehi, on Saturday. 

Altogether 24 artists painted the portraits depicting the life of the Buddha on canvas in the workshop. 

Concluding the workshop, the Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Cooperatives of Lumbini Province, Khadga Basnet expressed optimism about the workshop’s potential to boost tourism, acknowledging the artists' hard work in portraying Buddha’s history and Devdaha’s significance on canvases.

 He also pledged the provincial government’s support for such initiatives.

During the ceremony, Lumbini Province Assembly Member Janaki Neupane highlighted the workshop’s importance for Devdaha’s development, given its connection to the Buddha’s lifestyle.  

Bidya Laxmi Gurung, deputy Mayor of Devdaha Municipality, emphasised the workshop’s role in promoting Devdaha, an archaeological site like Khairdanda, and assured attention to its preservation. 

Siddhicharan Bhattarai, Treasurer of Lumbini Development Trust, and Chairman of Dream Devdaha Unity for Change, highlighted how the historical paintings would enhance tourism promotion for Devdaha.

The workshop aimed to capture the history of Devdaha through paintings.

Dipesh Basyal, secretary of Dream Devdaha Unity for Change, confirmed that the 24 paintings created during the workshop would be carefully preserved.
