By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 7: ‘Dharche Painting Workshop’ started in collaboration with the Nepal Academy of Fine Art (NAFA) and Dharche Rural Municipality, Gorkha, on Monday.

The workshop was inaugurated by the chairman of the rural municipality, Laxman Gurung.

More than 20 artists are participating in this workshop, which was organised with the slogan ‘Sundar Samrkchhit, Samriddh Dharche.

This workshop has been organised with the aim of connecting the society, lifestyle, art, culture, and geography of this region, which was mainly affected by the earthquake of 2015.

The municipality has hoped that the artists will observe the village and express their views and feelings in the artwork.

Welcoming the artists, chairman Gurung said that he was happy to welcome the artists to the municipality. He opined that the artwork created by the artists after observing the municipality would play an important role in highlighting the historic, original and indigenous  culture of the rural municipality.

Pradeep Adhikari, the head of Nepal NAFA (Folk Art Department), expressed his gratitude to Dharche Rural Municipality for understanding the importance of culture and art and showing caution in conducting the painting workshop. While achieving physical development, it is equally important to preserve the original folk art, culture, and tradition.

Keshav Raj Khanal, president of Nepal Fine Arts Journalist Association and a participating artist, said that the artists will use tourism, original heritage, and the lifestyle of the municipality in their creations

Artists, including Pradip Adhikari, Man Gurung, Keshav Raj Khanal, N.B. Gurung, Prithvi Shrestha, Dipendraman Banepali and  DB Rai are participating in the workshop that will conclude on May 8.
