Sanjhya honours poet from Bangladesh

By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, Apr. 29: Sanjhya Sahitya organised a special serial of poetry recitation in honour of Raj Reader, a poet and translator from Bangladesh, at Beanz and Bitez Cafe, New Thimi in Bhaktapur.

Reader is in Kathmandu in the course of presenting a paper at the Department of English Education in Tribhuvan University. 

Reader was welcomed and honoured by Sajhya Sahitya activists Ram Gopal Ashutosh and Nabin Prakash Shrestha.

Senior novelist and former legislator Narayan Dhakal including others were present at the function while Udaya Niraula, Bhisma Upreti, Keshav Silwal, Prakash Guragain, Rajni Mila, Harihar Timilsina, Haris Adhikary, Suresh Hachekali, Shova Maharjan, Rakesh Maharjan, Radhika Kalpit, Laxmi Thapa, Rami Priya, Sabina Maharjan, Gyan Keshari Shrestha, Hisilina Shakya recited their poems. Similarly, Nandu Upreti, Bishwa Sigdel, Sanjay Suman, Umesh Akinchan, Subash Parajuli, Kanchan Gr, Samishran Dhara and other also recited poems.

Poet Reader is regarded as one of the major poets and translators in Bangladesh. His book of poetry ‘Vrindavan of Love and Other Poems’ published in 2017 emerged as a visualisation of world myth. He has translated ‘Contemporary American Poetry’ in Bengali. A teacher of English literature at World University of Bangladesh, he has five books to his credit.
