Kathmandu, March 29: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet has said that climate change has the most impact on water resources.
Addressing a programme to launch a report entitled 'Study Report on Water Resources Management under World Water Leadership Programme' here today, he underscored paying special attention to the smooth management, utilization and conservation of water for mitigating the climate change impact.
Minister Basnet urged the politicians to accept the study report related to the smooth management of water and take it to the policy implementation level.
Emphasizing the need to become more serious about the better management of water resources and moving ahead by identifying the problems, the Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister said the study report has highlighted an integrated approach to water resources management.
He suggested moving ahead with most of the legal provisions connected with climate in an integrated manner. As the Minister shared, the time calls for moving ahead giving special attention to the multi-sector use of the river basin and the budget allocation has been kept as a priority keeping this in view.
The study report has incorporated various topics on sustainable water management, including the obstacles seen in water resources management under the World Water Leadership Programme. (RSS)
