By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 21: Sagar Adhikari ‘Sharad’ stands as an example of the notion that success is the fruit of unwavering commitment and relentless effort.

Adhikari, who has continued in the music industry for 23 years, has attained not only recognition by having his name inscribed in the Guinness Book of World Records as a singer who performed lively at the highest altitude music video on land, but has also exemplified that success demands patience, perseverance and dedication.

It took 23 years for Sagar to realise the Nepali proverb that ‘the river returns in twelve years’ after he made his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Sagar, who sang a song for the first time in 2001, is now a widely popular singer and musician. It is all because of his hard work.

Sagar, who considers patience and persistence to be the formula for success, said, “If you work hard, you will succeed one day.”

“I have achieved this milestone today because of my continuous 23 years of hard work.”

Sagar, who prefers to sing and compose ghazals, modern songs, and semi-classical styles, has recorded more than 250 songs and ghazals so far.

Sagar, who began singing without formal knowledge of music, has completed his master’s degree in singing.

Sagar started his musical journey with the song ‘Ma Tadpiyeko Herne Ho Bhane Marubhumi Bhai Hera’. Later, he sang the songs like ‘Malai Latthai Latthai  Banayau’, ‘Maile  Jati Maya Timalai Kasle’ and ‘ Madirale Aaj Malai Ramauna Sikayo’.

Sagar, who recorded a live song at Tilicho Lake, the lake located at the highest place in the world, and wrote his name in the Guinness Book of World Records, said that he has forgotten the sad moments of his work with success.

Today’s happiness has eased yesterday’s pain. Singing and shooting at such a high place was no easy feat. Numerous incidents occurred during the shoot, nobody could predict the outcome if one had fallen from there,” Sagar reflected.

“There was no choice but to move forward.”

The song has lyrics by DR Upadhyay, music by Bhesha Prasad Shrestha and vocals by Sagar Adhikari Sharad, featuring Pushpa Khadka and Shraddha Chhetri in the music video.

Shooting was done at an altitude of 5,150 meters.

President Ramchandra Paudel awarded the world record honour to the entire team, including singer Adhikari, during a programme organised at Shital Niwas in Kathmandu.
