By Amarraj Naharki,Tanahun, Mar. 12: Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun district has launched an awareness-generating and publicity campaign to prevent and control of dengue disease.
As the dengue disease transmitted by mosquitoes is spreading rapidly in the main cities of the country, a campaign was launched to find and destroy the habitats of mosquitoes.
Agamraj Upadhyay, Acting Chief Administrative Officer of Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality, said that because of the rapid spread of dengue fever in various areas of the market including Aanbu Khaireni for a long time, the campaign was conducted to raise awareness among the public.
Upadhyay said that the Rural Municipality is one of the major areas affected by dengue fever with many deaths from the disease, the campaign was started before the onset of monsoon season.
He said that all the wards have been sent a circular notice to prevent the spread of dengue fever and carry out an effective mosquito control strategy in time.
Upadhyay said that a 'search and destroy' campaign was launched to find the major mosquito habitats and destroy the larvae.
The municipality has also called on the general stakeholders through a statement on Sunday to support the campaign to identify and destroy potential habitats of mosquitoes.
During the campaign, the Rural Municipality has requested locals to conduct a programme to clean around their houses, remove water stagnation pits and prevent water stagnation in tin cans, flat tyres, pots, vases and water jars.
It has also been requested to put nets on the windows and doors of the houses, use mosquito nets while sleeping, and wear clothes covering the whole body while going outside the house in the morning and evening to avoid mosquito bites.
