toddler has been killed in a Bhutanese refugee camp in Beldangi, Damak, Jhapa.
After arresting a person accused of killing a minor by
harshly throwing onto the floor, further investigation is underway.
According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, an accident occurred
at refugee camp Beldangi, sector B, 4 house number 432) Damak, Jhapa, on
Monday evening. The deceased eight-month-old Airit Oli and his 25-year-old mother Sushmita Bishwa Baral were living at
the house of Pancha Bir Ghising.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the owner of
the house Ghising had killed an eight-month-old by throwing him harshly on the
ground.
Dhundi Rai Giri, Police Inspector at the District Police
Office, Jhapa said that the minor was taken to Damak Hospital for treatment after
receiving fatal injuries. He died immediately after reaching the KIOCH-Damak Children's
Hospital, which was referred by Damak Hospital after being unable to treat the
minor’s injuries.
The police investigating the case said that it has been revealed
that the accused was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Bishwa was living at Ghising’s house for the last four months
after disagreeing with her husband.
The mother of the minor was taken into control for questioning on suspicion
of involvement in the crime. The police informed that the mother was not at the crime spot
when the incident occurred.
