By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 26: President Ram chandra Paudel has extended best wishes to Nepali women at home and abroad on the occasion of Haritalika Teej, one of the major festivals of Hindu Nepali women.
He highlighted that Teej, celebrated since ancient times, reflects age-old traditions, lifestyles, social tolerance and unity.
The President noted that women traditionally observe fasts and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parbati during Teej, praying for lasting happiness, prosperity, and well-being.
Emphasising women’s dignity and role in society, President Paudel said: “Women are a source of peace and inspiration, and occupy a high status in nature and creation. It is essential to preserve the sanctity of such indigenous festivals, as they help foster moral values, cultural identity, unity, and a prosperous society.”
He further stressed that Teej carries a message against discrimination, violence and injustice faced by women, inspiring all to work towards building a just, civilised and equal society.
Meanwhile, Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav also extended his best wishes on the occasion.
In his message, Vice-President Yadav described Teej as an unparalleled symbol of faith, cultural pride, and familial love.
He underlined the importance of preserving festivals within the boundaries of tradition and not as economic burdens.
He stated that Teej reinforces social unity, strengthens relationships among communities, and promotes Nepal’s cultural diversity.
Both the President and Vice-President stressed that Teej is not only a religious festival but also a celebration of love, dedication, social consciousness, and cultural identity.
They expressed hope that the festival would continue to inspire Nepali women and society as a whole towards greater harmony, unity, and prosperity.
