Bagmati govt endorses agro self-reliance scheme

By Rammani Dahal,Hetauda, Jan. 27: A community-based One Ward One Agricultural Product Programme will be launched in Bagmati Province.

A cabinet meeting of the Bagmati Province government approved the procedure for implementing the One Ward, One Agricultural Product Programme following the endorsement of the Action Plan. 

The Bagmati Province government has accorded top priority to agriculture in its policies, programmes and budget for the current fiscal year to make the province self-reliant in agricultural production.

Bagmati Province Minister of Internal Affairs and Law, Ganga Narayan Shrestha, informed that during the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday, the procedure regarding the implementation of the ‘One Ward One Agricultural Production Programme’ was approved.

The meeting decided to approve the Chiuri (Indian butter trees) and bat Conservation Programme Operation Guideline, 2080 (2024) for the upliftment of the Chepang community in districts mainly inhabited by Chepangs in the province.

Shrestha, who is also the spokesperson for the provincial government, informed that the meeting approved the Bagmati Provincial Senior Citizen Policy, 2080 (2024), and the Educational Scholarship Guide, 2080 (2024).

Additionally, the meeting decided to request the Government of Nepal to provide a building for the office of the Communication Registrar. 

A decision has been made to request the Federal Government to temporarily release the office space of the Postal Services Office and get back it when needed by the Federal Government.
