By Raj kumar Bhattarai,Khotang, Jan. 22: Bahunidanda Health Post in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-1 Bahunidanda in Khotang district has shifted from its previous cramped rented space to its newly constructed building. The 2-storey building was inaugurated by Bimala Rai, Mayor of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality.
Previously constrained by the limitations of a narrow-rented room, the health post now boasts improved facilities within its building.
The delay in completing the construction of the new building has forced the health centre to provide its services from a cramped rented space.
Earlier, the health post struggled to deliver services from a confined room of a deteriorating office building of the erstwhile Village Development Committee.
After the demolition of the structure for the construction of a new ward office building, the health centre was temporarily relocated, paying a monthly rent of 5,000 while its birthing centre had been operating in a rented house with a monthly rent of 4,000 since 2018.
The health post, thus, was operating from two different locations, paying a monthly rent of 9,000 in total.
The two rooms on the upper floor of the new building are designated as living quarters for health workers and one room for the kitchen while arrangements have been made for health services from six rooms on the ground floor.
Rai expressed optimism that the construction of the health post's new building would streamline service provision, making it more accessible for both staff and patients. Given the expansive geography of the ward, an urban health centre has been established in Bahunidanda to facilitate citizens.
Plans are underway to set up another health centre in Kaduwa, she said.
Gauri Parvati New Technical JV Lalitpur had taken responsibility for the construction of the health post.
The construction of the project experienced significant delays, leaving the building standing idle for an extended period.
The joint venture was entrusted with constructing five health post buildings in Bahunidanda, Mangaltar, Batase, Rakhabandel, and Dorpachiuridanda in Khotang.
The project is funded by the Saudi government through the National Reconstruction Authority for Rs. 70.4 million.
