14 injured in Darchula bus accident (Identity revealed)

By Lokendra Joshi, Darchula, Jan 19: As many as  14 people sustained an injury when a bus heading towards Mahendranagar from Darchula met with an accident near the garbage collection center at Kimtadi, Mahakali Municipality-5 around 6 AM on Friday.   

According to the District Police Office, Darchula, a bus of Mahakali Transportation with registration number (001Kha 1031) had left from Khalanga, headquarters of Darchula, at 5:30 AM, but met with a fatal accident in half an hour of commute. 

Police Inspector Gobinda Bhandari at the District Police Office, Darchula said that 14 people including a bus driver have sustained injuries. All the injured are receiving treatment at District Hospital, Darchula. 

Further investigation into the matter is underway. 

Identity of 16 injured revealed 

According to Darchula District Hospital, 17-year-old Laxman Mahara, Patan Municipality-1, Baitadi, and Bharat Dhami from Apihimal Rural Municipality-3, Prashant Paudel, aged 24, from Dasharathchand Municipality-4, 54-year-old Parmananda Bhatta, from Byas Rural Municipality-4, Pashupati Tamata, aged 60, from Mahakali Municipality-5, 19-year-old Niruta Wod from Mahakali Municipality-5, Lal Singh Karki, aged 19, from Mahakali Municipality-1, 39-year-old Taradutta Ojha, personnel of Armed Police Force currently working in Darchula and from Melauli Municipality, bus driver Mahesh Bhatta, aged 28, from Krishnapur Municipality from Kanchanpur, 40-year-old Narendra Dhami, from Marma-6, 35-year-old Harka Singh Singh from Duhu-3, 39-year-old Jagat Karki, from Mahakali-1, and 23-year-old Bhuwan Thagunna from Shuklaphata -1 Kanchanpur.

It is believed that the owner of the bus is Janak Thagunna from Pipalkot, Basali, Dogadakedar Rural municipality-4, Baitadi.

According to Dhambar Bhatta, Spokesperson at the Darchula District Hospital said that those in critical condition are 53 year Dilip Bahadur Bom, aged 53, Duhu Rural Municipality-5 in Darchula, and have been referred to further treatment at Dhangadhi. Bom’s daughter-in-law, aged 23, Kamala Bom, and four-year-old grandson Himanshu Bom, are also sent to Dhangadhi. However, the daughter-in-law and grandson are in normal health.

He said that one more injured has been added and 13 others are receiving treatment at the Darchula District Hospital. Two more need to be referred as well.

The report of the injured is yet to be received.
