Janakpurdham, Jan 12: The transport workers' unions and their leaders have urged the political leaders and lawmakers to pay heed to workers' demands while formulating laws and policy relating to transport sector.

During the province level workshop of the transport workers' union held here Friday, they suggested the lawmakers to hold adequate discussion and debates with concerned stakeholders before making policy and laws.

If the workers' needs are ignored, the laws would be ineffective, they warned.

Organization's central chairman Bhim Jwala Rai blamed government and parliament that they failed to consult transport workers and entrepreneurs though the amendment of Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049 was in final stage.

He reminded that they had submitted a 16-point memorandum to the government, showing concern in the Act. (RSS)
