Morang, Jan 5: Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet said the disadvantaged group people would not be deprived of accessing health treatment in lack of money.
At the provincial launching of Nepal Demographic Survey organized by the Ministry of Health and Population here today, Minister Basnet said it was the state responsibility to provide treatment to the disadvantaged people.
The Minister said the provision of providing free treatment with beds to 10 percent poor people at the time of registration of community or private hospitals has been strictly implemented.
Noting that those going abroad for medical education are taking billions of rupees, he said the Bill to amend the Medical Education Act has already been presented in the parliament to provide quality medical education in the country.
Minister Basnet shared that the proposed act has provisioned permission to teach para-medical in hospitals with 100 to 300 beds and MBBS in hospitals having above 300 beds.
Chief Minister of Koshi Province Kedar Karki said that amendment to the Medical Education Act was necessary to prevent shortage of skilled doctors.
The government has provisioned budget for the study of agriculture, livestock and medical education. (RSS)
