By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 4: The election commission (EC) has reshuffled the election officers in all provinces.
With the decision of the Judicial Council’s meeting to appoint judges in the high court on January 3, EC has changed its prevision appointment of polling officers, making new appointments to come into effect from today.
The EC had appointed polling officers in all seven provinces on December 28 targeting the National Assembly (NA) election to be held on January 25.
Durga Prasad Dhungel was previously appointed as polling officer in the Koshi Province, Narayan Prasad Subedi in Madhesh Province, Keshav Prasad Bastola in Gandaki Province, Kripasur Karki in Lumbni Province, Bishnu Prasad Aryal in Karnali province and Om Prasad Aryal in Sudur Pashchim Province. However, all of them received a new appointment by the Judicial Council as judges in the High Court on January 3.
EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that the polling officer of the Bagmati Province Mahendra Bahadur Karki had submitted an application saying that he is unable to serve on the appointed post because of health reasons, after which a new appointment on the post was made.
As per the correspondence of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the district judges that are on the waiting list have been appointed to the post as per the National Assembly Member Election Act, 2075 (7) to come into effect from today.
Bishnu Prasad Gautam in Koshi Province, Chitra Bahadur Gurung in Madhesh Province, Shree Prasad Sanjel in Bagmati Province, Rishi Raj Acharya in Gandaki Province, Kul Prasad Pandey in Lumbini Province, Manoj Shrestha in Karnali Province and Bishnu Prasad Awasthi in Sudur Paschim Province has been appointed as the polling officer to come in effect from today.
