M7.4 quake rocks central Japan, large tsunami warning issued

TOKYO: An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.4 rocked a wide area on the Sea of Japan coast in central Japan on Monday, with a large tsunami warning issued for Ishikawa Prefecture, authorities said.

The quake occurred at 4:10 p.m., registering a maximum 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. It also shook buildings in central Tokyo. (KYODO)
