Statue of social worker Begha unveiled

By Our Correspondent,Phidim, Dec. 23: A life-size statue of the late Kumar Hang Begha, an education campaigner and a social reformer has been unveiled.

The statue of Begha was unveiled on the premises of Bishnu Secondary School of Chyangthapuka in Yangwarak Rural Municipality, Panchthar, on Thursday on the occasion of the 10th memorial day of late Bega. 

Professor Dr. Govinda Raj Bhattarai unveiled the statue at a programme organised by Kumar Hang Begha Memorial Foundation. While unveiling the statue, Dr. Bhattarai said the contribution of late Begha to the field of education was notable, and the new generation has been following the path shown by the late Begha.

Sarad Adhikari, General Secretary of the Foundation, said that Begha contributed to the development of education by opening schools in different places of Panchthar and Taplejung districts from 1951 to 1968.
